this is gabby

Hi, this is Gabriella Murillo, and I am here to tell you about John Langdon as the 1st person. I hope you enjoy my blog,

Thanks,
Gabby :)

John Langdons friend?

I would want to be John Langdon's friend. He seems educated, and knows what he is doing. John Langdon was a very important person, and knows a lot. I would come to him if I needed help with something, or if I wanted to talk about doing a job.
However, I would not be buddy-buddy with him, because he sounds and looks too serious.

Reflection

This project taught me a lot about my character, John Langdon. John Langdon played a minor role in the Revolutionary War, but did a lot for Portsmouth, New Hampshire. I had one problem with this project. It was a bit hard to find facts from books, because there was only so little about him that made him important.
All in all, this project did turn out pretty good. I would say that I am satisfied.

the beginning

My name is John Langdon. I was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, on June 26, 1741. The land there was beautiful with green fields, delicious crops, and much more. My father was a farmer and a local politician. I attended the local grammar school, and was very happy living where I was.

taking a different path

After I finished primary school, my father wanted my brother and I to become farmers with him. Instead, became an apprentice for a clerk. When I turned the age of twenty-two, I became a captain of a cargo ship that was headed out to the West Indies.

going to sea

A few years later, I received my own merchantmen. I was part of the triangular trade between the Caribbean, London, and my own hometown, Portsmouth. My older brother was also very successful in international trade. By the time it was 1770, we were both Portsmouth’s wealthiest citizens.

changing careers

Unfortunately, the British took control of the shipping industries, and I was out of business. This was one of the hardest parts of my life. I decided to serve on the New Hampshire "Committee of Correspondence." I attended many of the patriot assembly. Then I served as a member for the first continental congress?. It was from 1775 to 1776, at the time.

against the british

Then I became an agent for the Continental Forces against the British. In 1777, I also participated in the "Battle of Bennington" which was a battle of the American Revolutionary War. It took place on August 16th, 1777 in Wallomsac, NY. I commanded the "Langdon’s Company of Light," which was a company that was formed by selected volunteers from other New Hampshire militia units.

the continental congress

In 1787, I was a member of the second continental congress. I also became a delegate to the Constitutional Convention on May 25th to September 17th, 1781. It was a meeting that took place in Philadelphia. The reason for this meeting was to talk about problems going on in the United States. I felt very responsible and important during this time because I was elected as the first president of the Senate.

resting

Later, around the year 1801, I became a member of the New Hampshire Legislature. In the year 1805, I was elected as the Governor of New Hampshire. My term ended around the year, 1811.
In 1812, I ran for Vice President, but later I rejected the nomination. Instead, I retired and went back to my hometown, Portsmouth. I am living a happy life here in New Hampshire.

The Death of John Langdon:
John Langdon, the age of 77. He was born on June 26th, 1741, and died on September 18th, 1819. John Langdon helped protect our country. He started off living on a farm just right here in Portsmouth. His Father tried to lead him down the "Right" path into an agricultural business, but Langdon wanted to something other then farming. Several years after, Langdon was able to attend both Continental Congresses, and was part of different organizations, like the "Langdon Company of Light", and the "Horse Volunteers". He was elected as our Governor, and later we voted him to run for Vice President, but he turned down the offer.
His Death was "unspecified", and was buried in the Langdon Tomb just two days ago. He was a well-respected man, who we will miss very much.
